Clever Shopper

Have you ever wondered why you seem to be paying a little bit more every week for your grocery shopping? When you look at the prices you're paying today, do you have that feeling in the back of your mind that it didn't cost this much last time?

All of our supermarkets are very quick to advertise how much they're cutting off prices, but have you ever heard of one that's told us when they are going to increase prices?

Here's what just a few people have been saying:

Chris (Newmarket)

I wonder where all my money is going? Every week I seemed to have less and less left over, but I'm only buying the same stuff I usually buy, and the items I buy seem to be getting smaller.

George (Epsom)

I was buying the same amount of the same things, but my weekly shopping bill seems to increase every time I go to the shops. What's going on?

Joan (Royal Oak)

I wonder why my housekeeping budget isn't going as far as it used to? I haven't been extravagant, but these days, I never seem to have enough money left .

Harriet (Mt Eden)

I know that some shops are more expensive than others, but I don't know which. I wish there was some way of telling what I should buy where.
If enough people register and log in regularly to this website, and enter what they’ve bought and what they’ve paid into this site, then we’ll build up a picture of prices across the whole country. I promise that I’ll keep all your personal details hidden, and I’ll only show the statistics of what you’ve bought. In your personal section of the site, you’ll be able to see what you’ve bought, where you bought it, how much you paid, and how much the price for each item has changed over time.
